Daily payouts, fewer fires: How Link Transportation streamlined payouts with Everee

Link Transportation didn’t start out with apps, AI or connected payments, but it’s always been one step ahead. Originally part of C&H Taxi, a family business acquired in the early ’80s, the company has grown into a modern transportation leader under CEO Jeb Corey.

Jeb got involved in the early 2000s and brought a tech-forward mindset to the business. “Back then we were more or less a traditional taxi business. We were not so tech heavy or tech savvy at the time,” he said. “That was one of my strengths.”

He introduced in-vehicle cameras with driver behavior analytics in 2003, years before it became standard. In 2010, he launched a cloud-based dispatch system and later, driver and passenger apps, right around the time Uber and Lyft were just starting.

That same forward-thinking mindset eventually gave rise to the Link brand, which Jeb describes as “a bridge between traditional and modern taxi.”

“We said, how can we take the best of both worlds? And so we launched the Link brand to combine the two, to link the traditional and the modern together.”

Today, the Link fleet continues to expand across non-emergency medical rides, local travel, and soon, tourism.

‘It became a nightmare with cash.’

Link’s driver model is a lease-based setup: drivers lease vehicles and can choose to process rides and payments through the company. As account-based work grew, so did the complexity of payouts.

“What we found out was happening, especially once we switched to so much account work, was we were processing so much work for [drivers] that we had to get money back to them,” Jeb said. “That became super cumbersome with cash.”

Handling daily payouts manually became risky and time-consuming. “You just had a lot of risk and liability involved. It wasn’t working whatsoever.”

From clunky tools to a clean, fast payout system

Jeb knew they needed a more modern solution. “We tried one [provider] right before Everee that was very similar,” he said. “But we had some problems. The website was clunky. We had security issues. Drivers were constantly getting hacked.”

Once Link switched to Everee, those problems disappeared. “The onboarding process seems to be easier for the drivers. They grasp it faster. Everee’s portal is much smoother.”

And now? “I don’t think we’ve had a single security issue with any of the driver cards or their accounts,” Jeb said. “Before, people were constantly coming to me with portal issues. After Everee, I don’t ever have those issues. It just works.”

Driver payouts daily without lifting a finger

Even before going digital, Link was paying drivers fast. “That was one of our selling propositions,” Jeb explained. “They make money instantly when they go out and build their own business or take cash from customers. We needed to do the same digitally.”

Everee made it easy to continue that daily payout model without the mess.

“Why wouldn’t you want to get paid out every single day that you work?” he said, laughing. “It gives us a competitive advantage. Our industry is relatively easy to learn, and you have the opportunity to put money in your pocket daily.”

‘You can really streamline things with Everee.’

Jeb’s favorite part of Everee? The backend portal.

“It’s clean. It’s straightforward. And it has checks and balances,” he said. “When we upload our spreadsheet, it takes any double entry out of it. Then you get a couple more opportunities to catch mistakes before processing. Some platforms aren’t like that. If you hit process and made a mistake, good luck. Everee gives you those safety nets.”

He also loves how Everee helps with tax compliance. “We have to issue 1099-Ks for our drivers, and I believe Everee can do that automatically. That makes life super easy.”

No more payout fires = more time to grow

With Link expanding into new markets like tourism and continuing to grow its auto repair division, Jeb’s time is more valuable than ever. “It’s very hectic,” he said. “You have to diversify however much you can these days.”

Now, he doesn’t have to worry about daily payments holding the team back. “I’m always watching how much we’re processing daily,” he said. “If I see that number growing, I know we’re doing more work. Everee gives me a quick KPI I can glance at and know how the business is trending.”

The final word: ‘It’s hard not to recommend Everee.’

Jeb admits he goes deep when researching tools. “I’m a research-aholic,” he joked. “But once we found Everee, we were up and rocking.”

To other fleet owners still relying on clunky systems or cash, his message is simple: “You can really streamline things with Everee. The platform is flexible, secure, and easy. You’ve got options for contractors and employees. You can even integrate through APIs. It’s hard not to recommend it.”
